Picking Color – Part 3 of series “Taking Full Advantage of Cell Phone Technology”

In this cell phone technology series, I have explored emerging technologies available to businesses with the advancement of smart phone technology. Previous posts include how businesses can take full advantage of texting along with the use of QR codes.

When I put on my designer hat, one of the many smart phone innovations that excites me is the emerging tools to help pick colors for design projects. Many times I can get in a color rut and need outside inspiration for color combinations. Often I see great color combinations in some unusual places like the Butterfly House, local nature trails or even in shoe stores…I love shoes. It is amazing to me how a shoe company like Nike draws inspiration of color combos in the wings of butterflies.

When we see these colors, how can we translate them to our work before the inspiration is lost? Well technology is our friend. There are some great smart phone applications that can help us and I have listed below a few apps with specific features. This is by no means an exhaustive list, more an organic list. Please feel free to share your favorite color pickers.
